Chimney Cap & Chase Cover Replacement

Chimneys must be protected against intrusion from the elements, as well as birds and animals. The NFPA requires a spark arrest for operational chimneys. A good quality chimney cap is your best protection and cheapest investment against water penetration, animal intrusion, and provides spark arrest.

Many homes have chimneys that are built incorrectly with inadequate concrete covers or masonry slab covers. Chimneys with masonry or concrete slabs typically do not have adequate spark arrest and do not prevent water from entering the chimney. Too often this result in rusted warped metal throat dampers, damage to metal fireboxes, and cause gas appliances to fail prematurely. Concrete slab covers and masonry slab covers are not adequate protection and should be removed and replaced with a good quality chimney cap with spark arrest.

Examples of Chimney Caps & Chase Covers:

Why Are Chimney Caps & Chase Covers Important?

A good quality chimney cap will cover your chimney flue, provide spark arrest, prevent animal intrusion, and provide water shed away from the crown. We offer a varity of multi-flue caps with band around and skirt mounting options. A well constructed chimney cap will extends several inches on all sides around the chimney crown. In our experience this is the best way to mitigate moisture issues.  Stainless steel is the material of choice however we find aluminum to be a cost effective substitute that is durable and effect. Galvanized is the cheapest, however we replace them on a regular basis as they rust quickly and often stain the chimney and roof. Additional materials are available including patina copper, bright copper, painted galvanized, stainless steel, and aluminum.

We also replace rusted out leaky galvalized chase covers with attractive stainless steel chase covers and new storm collars.
